How much snow do the Gunks have?

The longer days have me thinking about climbing on rock once again, but there's so much snow in Eastern Mass that it's going to be a while before everything melts out. Is there anything dry enough to climb out that way? I'm in the mood to scramble up some really easy routes in mountain boots right now.

Still piles of snow everywhere here in the Gunks, I got 48' in my yard 8 miles from the Trapps.

it's been a fantastic xc ski season - which means climbing is a bit delayed.

Good news is that it's been really cold, so snow on ledges probably has not melted out yet so it might be dry-ish if you get out this weekend.

Any hope for dry routes this week? Forecast says mid 40s and sun

I'd say fat chance I was post holing up to mid thigh last week...

I'm fine with post holing...but any routes dry? Overhanging faces?

I'm dying to climb... 3 months of this is killing me.

last week the faces were certainly dry, but there was quite bit of snow on the ledges. If you hit it now you'd be safe, but I sense you'd get stymied once the melt starts.

Just give it another couple weeks of sunny, 40 degree days, and it'll be fine.

was at the gunks yesterday, there where a few teams on jackie and horseman, the under cliff road is walkable (hard compacted snow) and the routes looked pretty dry, although the access trails up the boulder/bank are under 2ft of snow! the routes at the uberfall are easily accessed. go for it!

Heading up there this coming weekend to visit some friends. What are the conditions like now?

I was out yesterday, and aside from the trampled stuff on the carriage road there's really nothing left. Routes are dry, top of the cliff is wet and has drifts here and there, but you don't need to worry about it.

Thanks so much

I was there yesterday. As Daniel said, only a little on the trail into the trapps. Most routes were dry, though some of the cracks had some water coming out.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
