I thought I read somewhere of Beth not wanting any part of it..ya' know, maybe cuz of Tommy being a big part of her life at one time and he was in the film a few times. So many rumors or posts over other sites of who wanted in or out.

Speaking of Yosemite films, has anyone seen Brave New Wild or Wild New Brave?

I think it's annoying that people think others do things intentionally like exclude women from a film about an obviously male dominated sport ( for that time it was anyway ). I think we all need to calm down and recognize that not everyone is racist or a womanizer or whatever else. I don't think women were under represented, I think they're just wasn't as much going on when compared to the men at that time.

I wouldn't have noticed a lack of women if it hadn't been brought up. Maybe if Lynn Hill's free Nose hadn't been mentioned, yes. There was a HUGE list at the end of people who merited mention, but editing had disallowed their inclusion, Peter Croft being on that list, if I recall correctly.

I enjoyed the film from an artistic standpoint and especially the humorous part with Chongo walking in slo-mo yet managing to totally elude the rangers. There were no moments of history I hadn't been aware of, and of course I understood it was a very condensed version, though I suppose they could have pared down the roilings of Harding a few frames to include others. That did seem to go on longer than seemed necessary, but then...maybe that was what it felt like to be around Harding - hahah.

No doubt the creators of the film have thought about this idea but if not - compilations of some of the edited out footage would be of interest to a lot of climbers.

A question for all the folks complaining about who/what was left out: did you watch the end credits? In particular the couple of screens where the filmmakers listed all the climbers and events they left out and would have liked to have included?

I would find the weird given that Beth did an interview on her blog with Tommy's current wife about what it's like to go on outdoor trips with a little one.
Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
