Weekdays & non-event times are key. And AZ Charlie's ain't no dive. It's the goddam Taj Mahal for dirtbags.

Contributors here seemed to have narrowed it down for you. My only add would be the 4 Queens and that is a long way from RR. Why not check Airbnb. Might find a deal

I was thinking about the hotel nick mentioned but it is 50 mile round trip. That really eats into the savings with time and money.

I just hotwired Las Vegas and got rates as low as $23 a night for a three star in the NE area, $27 on the strip, and $51 in the Summerlin/West area. 3 star on Hotwire means Hamptons, Courtyards, Sheratons- pretty baller for a climbing trip. I checked out the Airbnb listings on here, but one guy wants $59, another wants $74 (!), which sure seems like a lot (especially for "fellow climbers") when cheap hotels abound.

A Hampton Inn will be the only hotel to get you a free breakfast though. Sheraton and Courtyards no free breakfast unless you have status with the brand.

Leigh,

PM me. There are four of us renting a house off Charlestown Blvd in Sumerlin from 3-10 April. We may be able to work out something. At least some floor space. I'll have to clear it with the others.

Looks like Sun Coast it is. $60 a night is fine and it's very close to the Whole Foods. We're staying April 2-5. Then camping the last night (6th) since it's Friday and hotel rates go way up. And I'm willing to have one potentially sleepless night in the dirt. :) Leigh

This might mess with your climbing on Friday, but a good plan would be to get the campground Friday morning. By Friday afternoon/evening, all the folks who are coming for the weekend are rolling in and the campground can fill up.

I'll second (third?) the Suncoast. It's about as close as your gonna get at a reasonable rate. The rooms are clean and we got the biggest bed I've ever slept in in my life. It was like $52/night a couple years ago. Easy to get to and probably less than 20 minutes from the gate. Plan to spend a few nights there next week in fact.

The only downside is having to walk through the ground floor casino itself to get to the elevators. It has this awful stink cocktail of an aroma that is like cigarettes, beer-soaked carpets, old people and bad food. Unfortunately the walk from outside to the elevators is a bit far to hold your breath too, I've tried it. Probably not a problem for pearl divers though.

My buddy swears by the wild wild west, but I personally think it's worth spending a tad more $$ to be a bit closer and reduce the sketch level. I've stayed at some places with aggressive hookers and crack smokers in the parking lot too. That was ok when I was 22 but I'm getting old.

I get out to Red Rock Canyon several times a year and always stay at the Suncoast Casino (9090 Alta Dr, Las Vegas).

If you book enough in advance you can get a room in the $30-40 range Sun-Th and $50-80 F-Sat. The rooms are huge, nice, clean, and have a refrigerator - yes, a refrigerator. You’d probably pay at least $200 mid-week for the same room on The Strip.
It’s a 3 min drive to: REI, Panera, Vons Grocery, Target, Whole Foods, and a bunch of other stores & restaurants.
It’s a 5 min drive to Desert Rock Sports.
It’s also a 5 min drive to Red Rock Resort & Casino which has a good food court and the Yard House for after climbing dinner.
Red Rock Canyon is 10 min away - maybe 15 min if the traffic is bad and all of the lights are against you.
Also, sign-up for their free B-Connected Card and they'll email you some pretty good deals.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
