HEEEELP!!! Gimped ankle climber bored out of his mind in Golden.
|
Sprained my ankle pretty badly last week in a *gasp* HIKING accident. And now I can't climb for a couple weeks. This presents a problem, because I'm a terribly non well-rounded person who doesn't do much but work and adventure outdoors. I've only lived in CO for a few months, and have climbed every free day I've had. But now I can't, and I'm loosing my mind with boredom. |

Can you ride a bike? Lots of outstanding road & mountain biking around here. |

get to work? |

I don't recommend hiking around in the walking boot so much unless your stride is normal. When I was in a walking boot, my hips weren't level because the walking boot is elevated compared to the sneaker on the good foot and it messed up my hips. You don't want your injury migrating around your body as you compensate for whatever's injured. |

Check this out, may have been on MP before, if so, sorry- |

Mark E Dixon wrote:Check this out, may have been on MP before, if so, sorry- onlineclimbingcoach.blogspo…Impressive, but a word of warning, don't overtrain while injured. Torn meniscus, and now a bitchy elbow from so much hangboarding and such. Be smart. |

I feel ya man. I rolled mine really bad last friday playing basketball (loud crack, immense pain all night). Not only bored silly over the weekend, but it was hot as balls too in our apartment. So miserable, i sucked it up and played touch rugby on Tuesday and Thursday even though it was still extremely tender and swollen. Climbed some easy stuff I knew I wouldn't fall on, too. 9 days later, still tender, but I think getting out on the ankle and stretching has helped it heal faster. |

It looks like I have a tibia stress fracture after running in the Pikes Peak Ascent. :-( Doesn't seem fair to break a leg just running. Gonna be six weeks if the x-rays confirm a break. I am wondering about cycling, if that doesn't work, maybe swimming? |

Try the American Mountaineering Center Museum and AAC Library in downtown Golden. |

Kbird wrote: +1 Do lots of short tours ;-) Or heck, do the actual tour!!Long tour's out because of the bad ankle, better just do a lot of short ones. There's always EXTREME white water tubing on Clear Creek if you don't have a boat! |
