If you found a chihuahua (chiwawa) dog or know anything about one around the kraft boulders on wed march 7, it belongs to a resident there who is anxious to get it back. they live in the closest house to the boulders and i am sure if you dropped it off they would appreciate it.

What is the coyote situation like down there? Odds are usually not good for small dogs near the desert.

Drew, hopefully they're checking the animal shelters; someone may have assumed it was lost, or dumped in Calico. You can check via the shelters lost and found website- they post pics of the found animals, and dates turned in, and you can search by breed of dog. You will have to act fast though, as the shelters are overwhelmed and don't house the animals for very long. : (

LOST AND FOUND

Just to clarify, the dog was taken by a group of boulderers thinking it was lost. The woman came out looking for it later while we were there.

Ah, okay, thanks for giving more details. I'd still check the shelters in case the boulderers don't utilize MP, got sick of caring for the dog, and brought it to the shelter to get it off their hands.

Edit to add: Although cute, and little, chihuahuas can be high maintenance dogs that can be pretty darn snippy, especially with strangers. I know I wouldn't want to cuddle with one for more than a few days.

boulderers have taken my dog before too when she ran over to check em out at the monkey bar boulder. i was less than 100 yards away calling and whistling for her for 30 minutes before i had to walk over to them and, literally, yank my dog from their possession. i was f'n pissed. they clearly intended to "save" her and take her home as well. my incessant calling for her did not create any connections in their powerful minds as they sat around petting her and thinking of her new name...

i'm sorry for the loss, try not to knock out the a-holes that "saved" your dog IF they return it.
chances are she already has a new name and her retard "owner" sprays down everyone they meet with their amazing "rescue" story from her "abusive" situation living on the edge of a national park happily with her real family.

sorry for the rant, i'm f'ing fed up w/ retards today and i'm being a jerk as a result.

I am sure I'll get roasted for suggesting this but keeping your dog on a leash would prevent situations like this from occurring. Its a way of saying "hey this belongs to me."

I think most people who are responding to this thread are missing the story.

So here goes an attempt to clarify. There are houses out near the boulders, the missing dog lives at one of the houses. The owner of the dog lets the dog roam in her "neighborhood."

Some boulderers took the dog, who was a mere 200 yards from its home, thinking it was lost.

The dog does not belong to anyone who has posted to this thread. Andrew was trying to be helpful by calling attention to this after we met the dog's owner while she was out looking for the dog.

Look on the bright side, Darren, at least the thread is getting bumped for the sake of the poor owner who most likely misses her four legged family member terribly. : )

Does anyone know if the boulderers are locals? Hopefully the dog wasn't taken out of state.

True Gigi. I do hope the people that took the dog see this.

It kind of chaps the hind-end to think they didn't leave a note.

I think interstate dog-napping is a first class felony. hopefully it's locals who have the dog and figure out the right thing to do is return to Kraft area and see what they can find out locally.

I was bouldering that day at Kraft and saw the group that took the dog. I didn't get the sense they were assholes or anything, they were just trying to help. It was a group of 4, one was a wise-cracking Asian dude. Dunno if that helps.

So, did the owners get the dog back yet?

Aww, cute pup! (bump)

Wise cracking asian dude sounds kind of familiar. It's not this dog is it?:

For the record, this is a facebook photo I saw from some friends who were at Red Rocks a few weeks ago.

Hmmm, maybe a Deer-Headed Chihuahua mutt?? So cute!

If the lady hasn't gotten her kid back yet, it would help to post a photo, if she has one. It's a small world in our climbing community; a pic might get the dog back home sooner.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
