Don't wast your time with any other pad beside an Organic. They make the best pad on the market hands down and last forever. Black Diamond is not a bad pad but you most likely will have to buy two in order to get the same life out of one Organic, and every Organic pad is unique so you will always know which one is yours. Just my 2 cents though, good luck
I had the Drop Zone from Franklin which I can tell is nearly 100% the same. Overall I thought it was a good pad and my favorite feature is the full wrap around flap that made it easy to throw in gear and not worry about losing it.
The hard thing about a true taco pad is that you need to store it flat. Additionally thought the build was super strong at the time.
However I feel the current price for $200 is too much for that pad as there are numerous competitors that may be better (and are certainly more competitive with price).
I have had the Franklin Drop Zone for about 5 years now, and despite tons of use, is still in pretty decent shape. I also have a VooDoo which is a good pad (the buckles are pretty cheap, though) and a MadRock (which I wouldn't recommend unless you are getting a smokin deal).
When I need a new one, however, I too will probably buy an Organic. they get a lot of hype, but really live up to it. Every time I have landed on someone else's Organic pad, I've been impressed.
If I weren't broke I'd go Organic though I don't much like the deceptive name. Oh well, whatever I do get the point of the name. I did land on that huge Black Diamond once and I couldn't have been happier, a solid 6-7 foot drop flat on my back.
You thinking about selling an old pad Joe? I have a friend looking and that may help you with some of the money for a new one.
