Climbing Near West Yellowstone, Montana

Electric Peak is a beautiful and popular scramble peak on the northwest corner of Yellowstone National Park. The most popular time to summit this peak is when the route is devoid of snow which generally is between June and October depending on the snowfall that year. The southeast ridge route is by far the most popular and where the snow melts the fastest each year. It is accessed mostly by the Glen Creek trailhead but the Snow Pass and Sepulcher trailheads can also be used.

top rope face climbing in boulder area. very possible for great bouldering. It is within yellowstone and there are several bolts that have been chopped so im not sure if you are allowed to climb there or not and they just missed the bolts that I found while working there one summer. There are 3-4 routes off that top rope 5.5-5.7 i would say fun climbing if you have some free timing in the park. if you look up to the ridge to the right of the road,there looks like there is a good possiblity for some trad routes with a tough approach. Very short approach. From the mammoth hot springs you will continue south gaining elevation up the road you will see allot of white boulders on your right hand side and a significant drop off (drainage) with the largest mountain in sight to your left. There will be a pull out that is possibly 50yards that loops off the road and right back to it. you will know what im talking about once you get there. Good luck!

This area is mainly in the sun. Great for mornings and evenings. The rock is still a bit gritty on your finger tips but its cleaning up nicely. Just beware some routes may have a loose rock or two still. Just needs to be climbed more and it will all be good to go. Approach is easy. Park at main pull-out and follow the trail to the boulders.
