Featured Trad, Sport, Bouldering, and other popular climbing routes and climbing areas Sun Valley, Idaho.
A scrappy Limestone crag with multiple short and long routes that differ in difficulty. The rock quality is alright, I would recommend wearing a helmet as a belayer. It can be cold at times because it is a mostly shaded crag in the spring and fall, but it warms up later. Most of the routes have chains, and lower-offs, so some of the routes are good to start leading on. Park at the River Run parking lot in Ketchum, Idaho, and then use the Bald Mountain trail to approach. Start on the Bald Mountain trail for about 5-10 minutes until you see rock piles, turn onto a rough, unmarked, unmaintained climbers trail until you hit a cliff, then arrive at the crag.
One bolted sport climb with little sun, but a good belay spot as the biking trail is where you belay from, It is limestone, and the rock is fragile and will fall off in some places Park at the River Run parking lot for Bald Mountain ski area, then follow the trail under the gondola, and after a few switch backs you will see the crag on the up hill side of the trail. About a 5-10 minute walk.
A small granite rock with little traffic, the bolts for top roping are old, but in good condition, and one of the routes only has chains on it while the other has quick links, both of the bolted routes have new bolts for lead climbing. The crag is mostly sunny through the day, and the rock is very good quality. Drive up Warm Springs Road until you arrive at the parking lot for the Frenchman's hot springs, then park your car, then walk up about 200ft right at the entrance of the hot springs, and to your right, there is a large granite rock, which is the crag
