Climbing Near Staten Island, New York

In all honesty don’t go this is more or less a shitpost but I’m desperate and I want to touch rock even if it’s a mega choss lowball Hike down the hill and find the little boulders and caves on the shoreline. Rocks are slippery because it’s the ocean duh just don’t be dumb

Carroll Park (located in Carroll Gardens) is home to a single, approximately five foot tall, glacially eroded boulder. Enter Carroll Park from any side. Walk towards the War monument. As you approach it, you should see a low fence surrounding a patch of mulch on the Northern side of the park; this is where the boulder is. Enter through a small gate to access the boulder. The gate should be open at all times.

very unique because of its location in the middle of downtown jersey city. rock is literally stone blocks built into a 25 foot vertical wall. blocks a are varied and irregular creating crimps, 2 finger sloping pockets, cracks (where grout has fallen out) and large slopers. rock quality ranges from high quality granite blocks (primarily on Coles, Mommouth and Jersey ave) to chossy sandstone with incredible sticky pockets. routes, as of now are all bouldering traverses though they can stretch for upwards of 50ft. Be prepared for strange looks from people go to 6th street in jersey city. wall runs along all of 6th street. bulk of developed climbing is centered around corner of 6th and coles st.
