Climbing Near St. Charles, Missouri

Fun, easy bouldering along the trails of beautiful Creve Coeur Lake Memorial Park just west of historic St. Louis MO. Park is open dawn to dusk for free to all, no passes required. The climbing area is along the eastern section of the Mallard Lake Loop Trail, part of Creve Coeur Lake Memorial Park just west of St. Louis MO. The simplest way to get there is to park in the parking lots by the Taco Bell Shelter and Waterfalls attraction on the southeast side of Creve Coeur Lake, accessible by turning south off of Marine Ave where it transitions between hugging the east side of Creve Coeur Lake and going through the trees southeast of the lake. From the parking lot, walk southwest along the paved trail until the paved portion veers right just after passing under the bridge. At that corner there is the start of an unpaved trail that continues going southwest (this is the northeastern corner of the Mallard Lake Loop Trail); walk along the unpaved trail until you see boulders on your left, just off the trail. The total walk from the parking lot to the boulders is about .75 miles. Continue on along the trail another .5 miles to come across a short cliff on the left that might allow for more bouldering development.

On the way to Little Cliffs, there are littler cliffs on the left side of the trail. Heavy vegetation and mud, but not terrible. Same route to Little Cliffs, along Mallard trail before Big Cliffs
