Urban Crag is the first large cave on Lone Mountain. Look for the graffiti. Nice range of routes 5.5 to 5.12-. Generally east facing with morning sun and afternoon shade, although there are a few different aspects. The routes here are on mainly vertical to slightly overhanging rock. From the city park on Jensen just North of the mtn. Follow the trail south of the park to a large cave (ignoring the first smaller alcove you come to).
A mixture of brown and gray chert covered limestone. This crag has about a dozen routes, ranging from 5.7 to 5.10+.Six of these routes were established without much consideration years ago between partying sessions. Hence the name "Cheap Beer Crag." Approach to Urban Crag, then continue uphill along the base of the cliff to Cheap Beer Crag.
This newer, seldom-visited cliff rises out of the smaller ridge line just south of the Suburban Crag. The cliff is much shorter, with the tallest section approaching 50 feet. The rock is varied in angle and quality, but would likely clean up to be pretty solid with traffic. There are some steep roofs as well as some under vertical grey rock. There are currently seven bolted routes, most of which are in the 5.10 range with one 5.12 in the steepest section. Approach as for Suburban Crag. After a couple minutes walking up the Suburban Crag trail, cut left across the hillside and aim to reach the base of the next ridge line. As of March 2023, there wasn't much of a trail for this portion of the approach. Pick up a faint trail at the base of the cliff and continue up the steep and loose terrain to reach the the climbs. 0.4mi and 350ft of ascent. Roughly 15-20 minutes up and 10 minutes down.
