Featured Trad, Sport, Bouldering, and other popular climbing routes and climbing areas Hamilton, Montana.
Breezy area. Really nice when lightly overcast as well as sunny. Make sure you use a pad as there is lots of broken glass from kids shooting beer bottles off the rocks here. I cleaned up as much as I could see. Make sure you clean up the top of the rock as it would really suck to try and mantle on broken glass. Be mindful there are ticks in this area. Really good boulders. I couldn't recommend enough. The slab side has some really amazing problems that I was not able to ascend. Lots of FA's to be had here if there isn't any historical data. LMK if there are already names for these climbs and when they were first climbed if you know. 93 into Hamilton → 531 west → Right at Ricketts Rd → Left at Blodgetts Camp Rd (shooting range sign to right)→ Left at Canyon Creek trail head (735) (not the previous canyon creek rd make sure you're on gravel road before turning off Blodgett) → up mountain to RV pullout. Down the small trail you will find the main boulder. You can car camp here.
up for grabs if anyone wants to descript this area/routes coming soon...
This formation is the smaller tower located to the left (west) of the drip buttress and right of double-wide buttress. It's face stands south facing and about 450 feet tall, and the ridge can be seen extending uphill to the north to the top of the ridgeline. The ridge is marked by numerous towering south faces, and a large west face along the whole formation. The south face has a large roof at about 250 feet, with numerous incipient seams going up the face. Approach via the blodgett trail, and once you are about parallel with the drip, cut downhill off trail and cross the creek. Hike up the scree and talus slopes toward the drip and cut left along weaknesses until you are directly below the Cornlier south face. Follow along the west side of the ridge to gain access to most established routes.
