Featured Trad, Sport, Bouldering, and other popular climbing routes and climbing areas Darby, Montana.
Secluded. Lots of rock. Drive South From Missoula past Darby to the West Fork of Trapper Creek, take your first right towards Chaffin Creek TH.
Three out of the way boulders offer up quality movement on polished granitic mylonite. They get morning sun and some afternoon shade. These boulders are on forest service land but there is private property to the east. From the mother lode boulders walk or drive down the road to the east. Take the first right fork to skirt around a large mud pit then rejoin the main road and take it over a small hill and down to a parking area long the canal. Park here and wade across the canal. The basic and whale boulders are located down the hill to the north amongst the aspen. The canal boulder is located just bellow the canal access road to the south east.
A large house shaped boulder with many lines including a long traverse and a smaller companion "shed" boulder. Follow the road past the main motherload area and take the fork that curves to the south. Or walk through open forest SE from the mother load following a faint trail. The shed is located behind the House to the south.
