Avalon East Coast Bouldering

Purchase this book

Joel Harvie poured his heart and soul into this labour of love. A multi year project fueled by his own passion for our sport, and our Province. Featuring over 300 problems on the east coast of Newfoundland. It's beautiful full colour layout features piles of action shots of all the classics and a ring bound format.

It covers the coastal half of the developed bouldering problems near St. John's. It covers a mere approximately 48 KM of coast from Maddox Cove in the South to Pouch Cove in the North. It is a testament to potential for bouldering in Newfoundland that such a small area of coast near capital city contains enough boulder problems for a whole guide. The access to climbing is second to none.

It does not include 35 KMS of bouldering inland from St. John's to Holyrood Access road which contains just as many established bouldering problems.

Rock N Road: An Atlas of North American Climbing Areas, is a comprehensive listing of every chunk of protruding stone on the continent. This is not a typical guidebook: there are no topos or route descriptions and only a few photos. Instead, the atlas provides a paragraph or two on each destination, with quality ratings, stats on number of climbs, and a list of the best routes. This is an essential reference item for those in search of new or less-documented crags.
