Tennessee : King's Bluff

Little Crimpers, a Rock Climbing Guide to Clarksville, Tennessee.

Emmanuel "Eman" Lacoste, Vertasia, 2010

Purchase this book

This guidebook contains most routes at King's Bluff, but it's missing a few because of the relatively outdated information and first ascents since it was published. It also contains some information about climbing in the general vicinity of Clarksville as well. Most of the routes in this book are covered by simple topos (no pictures), but in some sections, the routes are merely listed.

This handy guide is really just a separately-bound version of the Tennesee Wall chapter in the main Dixie Cragger's Atlas. The reduced size and weight will make the long T-Wall approach trail a little easier.

The Dixie Cragger's Atlas has long been a climber's bible for the southeast (Tennessee, Georgia and Alabama). A longtime climber himself, author Chris Watford has not only ticked many of the routes in his guidebooks, but also has his share of first ascents at some of the region's premier crags.

The latest version of the DCA gives Tennesee a separate volume to itself. A substantial number of new routes have been added, as well as several new areas such as Big South Fork. The guide also includes narratives on the history of climbing at each area; topos and cliffline photos; and great shots of climbers on routes by noted photographers like Harrison Shull.

The DCA is available at area climbing stores, or online at the DCA website (click the "Purchase this Item" link above).
