Description
A delightful crag in a delightful valley, Skała Zachwytu is a lonesome rock outcrop sticking out of the steeply sloped pocket forest.
The compact location has 18 routes from II to VI+ (Poland’s Kurtyka scale) at 10m to 14m tall on west and south facing limestone.
Nicely appointed hardware with newer glue-in bolts and anchors and small, levelled staging areas.
The short trail to the crag, when damp/wet, can be steep and slick and there may be a few fixed ropes to help with the lack of traction.
An enjoyable location with a mountain bike trail and a tree lined intimate valley surrounded by farmland.
Getting There
From Krakow, take the 794 road to Skała. After around 4km, take a left in small residential area on the skinny Kamieniec Dolny street. The road will bend to the left and go down the hill and in around 750m at a right hand turn for road Doliny Zachwytu (and a mountain bike trail straight ahead), there’s a small parking space on the left (hillside) side of the road. Take care to park well off the narrow road.
Note the sign then follow the mountain bike/hiking trail around the corner to the left. Note the sign and trail for the climbing area. Hike up a few minutes to the rock.
