Description
This is the steepest granite cliff I am aware of and hands down my favorite sport climbing in southern Colorado. I'm excited to share it! The ambiance on the belay platform below the steep wall is a perfect. Creek noises, rock climbs, and the massive granite walls on either side of the valley make this a serene place. It doesn't get much better than this in terms of setting and steep climbing. Winter is the prime season as the suns arch is lower and bathes the cave in light and warmth (but not too warm hopefully). In the fall, spring, and summer months, the sun takes a higher path leaving the belayers and climbers in the shade. The routes on the right side of the wall get more sun, so winter is best for those routes.
Getting There
Park in the large lot for Stultz Trail (coordinates 38.33007, -10523508). Walk the trail downhill until you come to a small clearing. Leave the trail to cross the clearing, and go through a tree tunnel (gamble oak), and follow the cairns past a bolted cliff dubbed Flintstone Manor in the Sunny Side of Voyager guidebook pamphlet. Descend down East along this bolted wall, then switchback, and move West over a small ridge to the Gravity Wall.
It is also possible to walk the trail to Oak Creek and walk up the creek about a quarter mile to the wall. Routefinding can be a challenge depending on the creek and debris.
If all else fails, follow your GPS to coordinates 38.32773, -105.23565. That should get you close.
