Description
The Underlook is under the Overlook. More specifically the Blackrock Overlook. Climbing here was developed in the mid 2010's. The cliff is slab and is up to 2 pitches tall. The cliff line is roughly broken up into three areas. Left, Main and Upper Right. Most of the developed climbing is at the Main area. It's not easy to walk the entire base of the cliff so it's best to approach the area you want to go to directly.
Pro / runouts are generally in the spirit of the area but a little safer. Most routes require two ropes to get down
Getting There
Park at the Pantertown Valley trailhead at Salt Rock Gap. Follow the Panthertown Valley trail east down into the valley. After 0.9 mile veer left on the North Road trail. Cross a bridge and pass Cartlton's Way. After a 0.5 mile from getting on North Road, look for a lone pine tree and a place to duck into the woods on your left. A steep but relatively short path will lead you to the Main climbing area. If you want to get to the Upper Right area veer right just below the main wall, traverse right until you can head up again and aim straight up. If you're looking for the left area there are no established paths. Follow your GPS
