Description

The Hole in the Ground trail offers plenty of easily accessible, quality granite west of Castle and Basin Peak.

Getting There

From I-80, take the Castle Peak/Boreal Ridge exit. Head north, and either park at the trailhead parking area or continue straight on a rough dirt road until you reach closer parking options. Reach the parking area at the base of Castle Pass if possible. High clearance vehicle advised. Expect a 20-45 minute walk for most of the problems along the Hole in the Ground Trail, much of which is easier to access than the Treat Box area.
