The WVU research forest consists of several climbing areas north of I68. Darnell Hollow has the highest concentration of roadside bouldering and tends to stay about 5 degrees warmer than most other areas in the forest due to lower elevation.

Plenty of other smaller areas exist and allow for classic Cheat Canyon adventure climbing.

Getting There Suggest change

From I68, take the Coopers rock exit and turn north. Unless you are going to Darnell Hollow, then the exit for Cheat Lake should be taken followed by a right onto Bower Ln, then a left onto Fairchance Rd. Darnell Hollow Rd is 2 miles north from this turn.
