Description
Ice climbing in Pullman? With only a five-minute approach enjoy some fun ice climbs right in town! Take caution due to the proximity of the climbs with the road. DO NOT PARK ON SHOULDER. Instead, parking can be found off Terre View Dr. The routes are best climbed at night, minimizing traffic on the road, and allowing the ice to fully freeze up from the sun early in the day. All routes are southern facing. It is recommended to put a screw into the ice and look at the drilled core to check the condition of the ice. Varying by year, some routes are known to have thin but solid ice. If the ice is too thin to protect with screws, all routes are top ropeable with a long rope using poles or trees above.
Getting There
Coming from the Pullman Moscow Highway, turn off onto Terre View Dr at the stop light. Park off Terre View. Make sure to check if parking permits are needed where you pull off. From here, enjoy the five-minute approach. Walk towards the traffic signal and turn left at it. Continue walking until shortly arriving at the rock wall blasted for the highway.
