Description
Another massively steep subterrain cave, similar to the Chatfield Weather cave, but much larger and longer. I am posting this with the hope that climbers can help be good stewards to the area much like they have done for the Weather Caves, Pine Ledge area, and West Rock. The Shepards Cave is a massive fissure in Chatfield stone that is popular with local teens for spray painting and partying. Some clean up efforts have been made. This place could clean up to be an absolute gem of the Shore and CT with a little more work, love, and care. The land is owned by the Madison Land Trust. There are houses right behind the cave so bring your headphones and leave the bluetooth speaker at home. Lots of effort has been made to remove the tags, but with a little more this area could be significant gem.
