Description
The granite hills of Great Plains State Park are rugged with panoramic views of Tom Steed Reservoir and the Wichita Mountains. While climbable boulders are not as instantly observable compared to Quartz Mountain and the Wichita Refuge, there are pockets of climbable rock in the park.
The boulders are granite and high-quality. As with any location, be respectful, stay on established trails, be careful with pad placement to avoid damaging vegetation, and keep crag dogs on a leash.
The state park has excellent camping and you will have to pay $5 for parking, if you are not camping.
