Webber Mountain has a long history of rock climbing here in Northwest Arkansas. Most notably, “Lutz Cave.” Lutz has some of the hardest and best actual cave bouldering in NWA. Lutz was established in the late 80s and early 90s, along with most of the boulders that surround the cave. Sport climbing has never been established because of the questionable access, but it is in the works. The Parsons Family has owned this area, and climbing has never been technically off-limits, but it was understood to “keep it under wraps.” The new ownership has asked to establish the climbing and open it to the public. We are only opening the bouldering at and around the Lutz cave itself FOR NOW. Be aware that we are in the beginning process of unlocking the area, and there will be the construction of trails and landings to come, so know that you will need to be mindful of this and be ready to give space to the work that is going to be done at this location.

Getting There Suggest change

Getting there:

Navigate to 303 Preston Lane, Springdale, AR, where an old house was removed. There is a dirt parking lot. (This will be the temporary parking until an established parking area is figured out.)

The Hike:

From the parking lot, look south where there is a long orange chain that leads to a trail. The trail turns into a dirt road with car tractions. Start hiking up the hill for about 5 minutes to the east until it becomes solid wood and look for a break in the barbed wire fence that leads to the foot trail to the climbing area. All climbing area will be on your left. You'll start seeing free standing boulders up the hill. To get to Lutz cave with historic bouldering continue past the boulders until you see a steep overhanging cave just off the trail about 25 feet to the left.
