Description
Tinker Cliffs is an area outside of Roanoke, VA, along the Appalachian Trail. It features a variety of high-quality rock, including top roping and bouldering routes.
Getting There
Use Andy Layne Trail (parking/trailhead on Google Maps under Andy Layne Tinker Cliffs Trail Parking Lot) to hike up to the famous cliff line. Most of the climbing lies at the base of the cliffs. Follow the established trail as if you're going to enjoy the overview. Just before the views, you'll notice a gap in the rocks that allows you to downclimb into a small, open cave/canyon area. Follow this until it spits you out at the base of the cliffs.
