Description
Lost World is a bouldering area to the West of Kirkwood Lake. Classics like Ill Cave and Flight of the Mud Falcon are in this zone.
Lost World also features a large (~120’) crag above the Ill Cave. It was originally developed in the early 90’s, when numerous stiff lines including Girl Scout Emergency Parking (5.10d), Sick Flake Thing (5.13a, FA Sean Haverstock), Dream Corner (5.11c) and Breakfast Burrito (5.12B) were established, among about ~12 lines total. Others came and replaced the original crew that moved away or found other projects completing the bolting and sending (?) of old lines or leaving behind absurd projects for a future generation. Getting There
Take the Caples Creek Falls trail from the west-most campsite in the main Kirkwood Lake campground. When the falls is reached continue downstream for another ~1/3 mile along a faint fisherman’s trail. The Lost World is found ~300M above the creek but is obscured by trees most of the way. This may have changed since the Caldor Fire went through the area.
The Ill Cave is found in the large talus field below the Lost World crag.
