Description Suggest change

Deathball Rock is just south of the McKenzie river near Cougar Reservoir. This is actually the name you will read on a map, and its origins are not as hardcore as they sound: A group of surveyors made some unleavened biscuits which were so memorably bad, "little balls of death", that they decided to name the peak rock formation after them.

The climbing is on public (FS) land. There are many distinct types of rock in this area, volcanoclastic conglomerates with a nice variety of huecos and jugs, tuff bands (usually low quality and blank), blocky basalt served at a high angle, and the columnar basalts of Katsuk Butte far above. This page and the crags are a work in progress.
