Description
A west-facing cliff on the lower flanks of Mount 7. This solid quartzite crag offers easy and moderate cragging very close to Golden. This is a re-discovered climbing area as evidenced by some old pitons and is now being developed as a sport crag. Be cautious of loose rock so remember that helmets really are cool.
The crag is divided into three zones:
Orange Wall
Grey Wall
Timelines
All climbs have equalized fixed anchors. Put wear and tear on your own carabiners - please don't top-rope directly through chains or rap rings.
Getting There
Continue on foot along a gravel road straight past the Cedar House to the Cedar House trail head on your right. The trail passes below powerlines and continues into the forest on a clear hiking/biking trail. Then take the left fork signposted to Rockabout Loop and descend to cross the wooden bridge over Stacey Creek. 150m up and past the creek the trail opens onto an old overgrown 4x4 track. Stay on this track for approx. 650m passing the south access to the Rockabout bike trail on your right. Take the second signed entrance to the Rockabout trail on your right and follow this for 150m until you can pick up a faint trail uphill. You should see a rock with "climb" written on it in black at the base of a tree. Follow this until the bike trail is reached. Go right over the boardwalk and immediately traverse up over broken rock to the crag. Time:15-25min
