Description
A long and striking alpine ridge marked by various buttresses and spires. Home to one of the most popular and photogenic routes in the Rouges, the South Southeast Arete, it also features a number of semi-independent variations and routes.
Getting There
About as easy as alpine approaches get. From the top of the Index chairlift head left and descend a service road heading west till you arrive at the base of the third scree filled gully. From here, ascend the gully to arrive at the base of the route 100m further up than the toe of the buttress. Ice axe and crampons will provide comfort and aid in descending a potential moat early in the season.
