Description
Donnell pond public lands (including Tunk mountain) are a beautiful, yet lesser known gem for hiking, camping, climbing, and all sorts of outdoor recreation. Nestled between Franklin, Sullivan, and unorganized territories of Hancock county, this preserve provides a quiet, serene, and lesser traveled place to climb.
Getting There
Park at the Tunk mountain trailhead for the Tunk mountain boulders. Begin up the Tunk mountain trail. Less than a 15 minute walk in, before the split into the summit ridge and hidden ponds trails, there is an obvious boulder on the right. at its base is a smaller boulder marked with blue trail blaze (you can’t miss it). Just a little further to the right, there is a group of several boulders with current ongoing projects and opportunities for FA. Slightly further up the trail on your left is 3 boulders leaning against each other with great climbing potential. Climb on and enjoy the beauty of one of the most underrated parks in the region!
