Description Suggest change

A short 60 second hike will bring you to the top of this small cliff line with boulder blow out, from land clearing, to the right of the cliff. 20+ feet of slab along with 2 small cave sections at the base of the cliff make for both easy introductory traverses/highballs and more advance climbs. There is a fair amount of glass in the area so this is a SHOES ON area at all times. I as well as friends are trying to clean as much of it as we can as we project the area. At the bottom of the cliff is Beaverdam Brook so please carry out anything you take in.

Getting There Suggest change

Drive to Toll Gate Rd in Groton CT. Turn on to Burningtree Dr (it will be a right if you enter Toll Gate Rd from 184 and a left if entered from Route 12). You will be entering a housing community so please watch the posted speed limit. Take a left onto Poplar Rd and then another left onto Locust Cir. There's is a small children's park you can park in front of on this road. (PARKING IS LIMITED) From the small park you will walk down a small set of concrete stairs and make an immediate left onto a well worn trail. On the trail you will walk over a small stream with a stepping stone in the center and then have to step down a drainage pipe. It's slippery so watch your step. The trail can get thick with thorns in the summer so wear entry clothing. The approach should take roughly 60 to 100 seconds to reach from the concrete stairs. It will be on your right hand side along the trail.

IF PARKING IS UNAVAILABLE
There is a closed school you can park at on Toll Gate Rd but will require you to walk from the school down a concrete path, past the school's soccer fields, to reach the trail head next to the concrete stairs. This walk does take 7ish minutes.
