Attention: All Visitors and climbers at Khao Chin Lae 2, Wat Pa Suwannahong *Please read*

1. Every visitor is expected to greet the monk or the nun upon arrival. They may request to photograph visitors for record in case of emergency. If the monk and nun are absent, visitors may proceed to climb. The approach toward the cliff is via the staircase.
2. This temple is a place of worship. Tt is expected that every visitor is dressed appropriately and behave in respectful manner. Please maintain a low profile during your visit at wat pa suwannahong
3. A donation in good faith is graciously accepted. Even the small amount can go a long way to help with upkeep of the temple and its surrounding area.
4. The temple requests that all climbers depart from the premise before 6:00pm.
5. Parking is available along temple’s fence. Please be considerate and do not obstruct local traffic.
6. To enter the temple's premise, visitors should refrain from climbing over the gate. Visitors may crawl through or under the gate.
7. Please practice leave no trace. Do not litter and pack out what your bring in.
8. Running water is available for visitors. However, please be considerate and use the water sparingly.

1. นักปีนและผู้ใช้วัดจีนแลทุกคนเป็นผู้มาเยือน ควรทักทายและแสดงความเคารพเจ้าอาวาส /แม่ชีเมื่อเข้ามาในบริเวณวัดทุกครั้ง (ในกรณีที่ท่านไม่อยู่ประจำวัด สามารถขึ้นได้เลย)
2. แต่งกายให้สุภาพเรียบร้อยและสักการะพุทธสถานและสิ่งศักดิ์สิทธิ์ในบริเวณวัดก่อนขึ้นเขาทุกครั้ง และเคารพสถานที่เนื่องจากเป็นสถานปฏิบัติธรรม
3. แนะนำให้นักปีนทำการบริจาคเงินหรือสิ่งของจำเป็นแก่ทางวัดแล้วแต่จิตศรัทธา (เช่นข้าวของประจำบ้าน ของใช้ประจำวัด และแนะนำให้บริจาคเงิน เพราะพระมีความจำเป็นเรื่องโรงพยาบาลและยา)

Description

The only known location for climbing is at Khao Chin Lae 2 (เขาจีนแล 2), a 600-foot limestone peak that rises out of the sunflower fields and rice paddies of central Thailand. It is a short ride from the town of Loburi, but it is relatively unheard of when compared to the climbing destinations of Southern Thailand. There are over 50 sports routes in two separate areas (temple Crag and secret garden) and 6 routes that summit the tower. Most are bolted routes but some may require natural protections.

The climbing is different than the south, in that it is mostly vertical with edges, pockets, cracks and corners. Few tufas or stalactites. Some of the harder sport routes are great, especially in the "Secret Garden Area," but the real gems are the multi-pitch routes.

As of 2023, the development of new routes is slow but continuous and there are now over 80 routes at the Temple crag.

When you get to Lopburi, head to "Noom's Guest House" for good rooms, wonderful service, and advice on climbing and how to get there. Noom is one of the developers of the climbing here along with other Thais and ex-pats during the early 2000s

Getting There

Lopburi is about 150 km north west of Bangkok. It is about a four hour train ride from the capital, and tickets are around $1.

Once you are in Lopburi, you will need to rent a motorbike to get to the climbing. Noom's seems to be the only place to rent a bike, but his are brand new. You can also get a taxi.

Head east on HWY 1 out of Lopburi, going straight through two traffic circles. Get out of the last circle at the big red building (Honda building?). Pass the "Tesco" and "Big C" and take a left onto road 3017. Travel 12 km or so and take a left, following signs for "Wat Pa Suwannahong."

Park your bikes at the temple and make sure not to obstruct loca traffic. The temple has also requested the visitor must not climb over the fence but instead, crawl under. Donation to temple is highly encouraged.

Noom has a wonderful map and can give you good better directions. The locals also seem to recognize us "farangs" as rock climbers, and send us the right way.
