Description
Pumphouse Park is the the original Lake City Ice Park and has routes from WI3 to WI4+. Topropes are relatively easy to set up, though anchors tend to be far from the cliff edge. Bringing 100' of rope for setting anchors is not a bad idea. A couple metal post-type things routinely get used as anchors, though no one knows what they are anchored to. Trees are also usable as anchors but are pretty far back from the edge. Have fun, and enjoy some of the easiest TR access ice anywhere.
Per Patrick Gres: the most technical ice and a few mixed climbs (M6/M7) can be found on the left side of Pumphouse. Columns of varying thickness will form in front of the grotto and will occasionally form into a full sheet of ice. A bolted mixed route can be found at the back of the grotto, which can be climbed up to the roof for a transition on the pillars. There's also a bolted route to the right of the grotto that has multiple overhanging variations that transition onto a think ice smear near the top. The rock quality is often dubious.
Pumphouse Park tends to be sunnier than the other portions of the ice park. The warming tent, firepit, and bathrooms are a casual stroll across the creek and are usually in the sun.
