Section 5

Florida > Santos > Vortex

Description

These are fun! Finding the top of the wall is tricky at first. Better to head to the base of the wall to understand where the top is. it is slightly hidden just off the path behind some trees. You then have to walk around the back side and come in on the mountain bike trails to find the top where the tree is for anchors. Ants in the crack is not difficult but is fun to play with some hand jams and other fun moves to reach the top. Ants in my pants has some cool 2 finger holds and a slight overhang that makes this my favorite route in the area. No cams! This is brittle limestone.

Getting There

Park at the Santos Vortex area parking lot and hike (or bring your mountain bike, it is a mountain bike park after all) the short path west into the freeride area. Turn north and head down into the lowest part of the freeride area. There are 2 paths you could take north and both will end up in the lower section where the walls are.
