Description Suggest change

Large boulder on the peninsula trail of Ragged Mountain Nature Area which extends into Charlottesville Reservoir. The boulder is climbable on all sides and about 12-15 ft tall; of the two large sides one is slabby (slab face) and the other is overhanging (gold face). The area around the boulder is fairly flat, sandy, and generally a good landing zone. Sections of the boulder have loss rock on the surface particularly areas that have not been climbed or get a lot of moisture, bring a brush!

Getting There Suggest change

Walk back down the road from the main parking area, and across the dam. Follow the main trail until a turn off on the right called "peninsula trial". From the parking lot the approach is 25 min. The trial is not very direct and if you had a boat you could get to the boulder much faster.
