Description Suggest change

Ice climbs abound on the north and south sides of Death Canyon. From classic multi-pitch waterfall ice to testy modern mixed climbing (and plenty of new route potential), this area is perhaps one of the most concentrated ice climbing venues in the Tetons.

Getting There Suggest change

If Death Canyon Road is closed as it is after first major low elevation snowfall, approaches will be made on skis (or snowshoes I guess) from the Moose-Wilson Road closure coming from GTNP main entrance. Can approach via Phelps Lake or Death Canyon Road and summer trail. Most climbs are approximately 4-5 miles from the car, and time will be dependent on snowpack/mode of travel.
