Description
Conglomerate Crag is a a short sport climbing wall made up of volcaniclastic conglomerate beneath a softer layer of welded tuff, with large cobble trapped in petrified toothpaste. Rock quality is suspect but the climbing is fun, juggy and steep as it cleans up. It stays moss free and dry beneath an overhang & offers bouldering and now a few moderate sport routes. No moss, great rainy day spot. Fragile rock formation. Wear a helmet and watch for loose stuff. Scaly rock but cleaning up nice. It is basically grid bolted so combination traverses are possible.
Getting There
Park in the gravel pit where the road ends. This crag is above and left of the big unclimbed tower, which is the first formation you come to hiking up from the parking. Hike the rough trail that leads out of the back of the gravel pit. Stay left along the edge of the gravel pit. This is a difficult scramble up steep scree, follow elk trails along the edge of the gravel pit and then switchback up to the visible crag.
