Description Suggest change

The Riverside area is the first series of cliffs along Little White River, which enjoys quality adventure climbing, roadside access to many of its crags and beautiful views overlooking the river. Although caution should be taken due to the remote nature of this area, many moderate well protected routes exist, including Ontario’s TALLEST fully bolted multi-pitch lines!

BE AWARE: LOOSE AND SHARP ROCK IS COMMON AT  THESE CLIFFS!!!  CLIMB WITH CAUTION AND MANAGE ROPES WITH ATTENTION. 2 ROPE CLIMBING IS COMMON, EVEN ON BOLTED ROUTES.
NEW ROUTE DEVELOPMENT IS ONGOING AND MAY CURRENTLY BE UDERWAY IN ANY OF THESE AREAS. DO NOT CLIMB ON ROUTES WITH RED TAGS

A huge “thank you” is owed to Danylo Darewych for producing the local guidebook, which contains the most relevant and up to date information. Please review this guide and respect the local ethic when visiting this area. Leave no trace when camping

Getting and Staying There Suggest change

The most extensive descriptions and directions are are contained in the Kynoch Rock guidebook by Danylo Darewych. Know before you go!

Although these areas are on Crown and Park lands, they are accessible via private roads. Currently, a $20 fee must be paid to access through the farmers gate, which is locked from Friday sunset to sunrise Sunday.

To Brock's Road:
If you’re coming from the east, in Iron Bridge turn north from Hwy 17 (Trans-Canada) onto Hwy 546. Head north for 10.9 km. At this point, Hwy 546 veers sharply right. Continue straight ahead on Hwy 554 for 12.1 km to Kynoch (a small settlement of farms and houses with no road sign declaring its existence). In Kynoch, Hwy 554 makes a sharp left-hand (westward) turn. At the far end of the turn, look for Brock’s Road on your right (north). Turn right onto Brock’s Road.
If you’re coming from the west, from Thessalon head north on Hwy 129. At about 31 km north of Thessalon turn right onto Hwy 554 and head east for 4 km to Kynoch. In Kynoch, Hwy 554 makes a sharp right-hand (southward) turn. At the start of the turn look for Brock’s Road on your left (north) and turn left onto Brock’s Road.

To logging road:
At first, Brock Road looks like a driveway for several farms and it will seem that you are simply driving onto someone’s farm (which, in fact, you are doing). At 1.3 km along Brock’s Road, just past the main house on the hill on your left and some barns to your right.
You will need to ask the farmers in the house for access and pay the fee. (CLOSED from Friday sunset to Saturday sunset). Note it, and keep going. The road heads slightly uphill into a forest and becomes a logging road. The first Areas can be seen on the left at the first riverbend.

CAMPING: The best and most abundant camping is located past the Riverside cliffs at the Eyeball area
