Description
This beautiful, 20 mile long, valley, runs from Penia, past Canazei, to Moena. (Below this is Val di Fiemme also with extensive sport climbing.) The Val di Fassa valley is perhaps best known for some of the major climbing areas and mountains that rise out of the valley including Marmolada, Sella group, Sassolungo group and the Catinaccio area including the Vaiolet towers. There are also many sport climbing areas, a few which are included (so far) in Mt project data base. These include sport climbing sectors in Moena, Passo Carezza, Pozza di Fassa, Campitello, Canazei, Penia, Pian Schiavenais. (Beyond Passo Sella one cross Passo Gardena into Val Gardena which also has extensive sport climbing). The Val di Fassa area provides campgrounds and a range of amenities including public transport options to the Sella and Marmolada groups.
