Description
Mt Alberta is home to one of the classic north faces of the Rockies, the "trade route" northeast ridge, and choss-tastic Japanese Route / descent. A serious mountain in a serious location with some major loose rock to deal with.
Getting There
Park at a pullout on the east side of the road approx 12km north of the icefields. Cross the river and look for a yellow sign at the start of the trail. Follow a tight trail on the south of the river up the valley for a couple hours before turning west up a scree gully and over Woolley Shoulder. The Lloyd McKay Hut is visible from here at the north end of Little Alberta. Expect around 5 hours from the car.
