Dragon's Back (elevation of 12,968 feet) is located near the Engineer Pass. It is a striking looking peak between 13'ers Wildhorse and Blackwall.

Getting There Suggest change

Horsethief Trail at 12,400' off Engineer Pass is probably the most logical start. The road is rugged and a 4x4 is required for that section of the road. Engineer Pass is accessible from Silverton and Lake City. It is an approximately 4 mile and 900 foot gain hike to the base of the peak and climb.
