Description
There are parking fees in the Big Sur ranger station parking lot. Be prepared to hike a long distance to get to the Ventana campground. Plan to spend most of the day/or even a night when visiting this location. Bringing tents, food and water is advisable.
Getting There
Keep in mind this area is very remote. Take Highway 1 to the Big Sur ranger station. Follow Pine Ridge trail for about 4 miles (hilly). Take a left to Ventana camp trail and follow it 1 mile to the Big Sur river, where there is a campground. Depending on the time of year and rainfall, you may be able to find a few, small, climbable boulders along the stream.
