Description Suggest change

Directly south of the visitor's center off of Route 157 is a long escarpment of limestone conglomerate rock that is easily visible from the road. The rock quality is generally very poor and requires significant cleaning and reinforcement to produce climbable routes. The style is reminiscent of other conglomerate sport climbing areas like Maple Canyon, but is significantly chossier due to the relative lack of traffic.

The cliff band lies at around 6800 feet, allowing for pleasant conditions when other Charleston areas might be a bit cold for some. The walls generally face northwest, meaning most of the cliffs are in the shade until later in the afternoon.

The entirety of the area is contained within the Spring Mountains National Recreation Area.

Getting There Suggest change

Drive up 157 as for other Charleston areas. Instead of continuing straight through the rotary, take the third exit and park in the Spring Mountain Visitor Gateway parking lot, or across the street if the visitor center is closed. See individual crags for approach instructions.
