Description
The adjacent boulders in this cluster were once joined together as one larger boulder. Somehow, this rock eventually split into four separate blocks, the cleavage of this boulder created a corridor that goes straight through the entire middle off the boulder, creating and giving access to some great climbs with great quality in a unique location.
There are many great problems found on this once uniform boulder, making it one of the best locations in Boulder Natural that is a bit more isolated than The Zoo. Problems on The Chasm range from V1-V10, and there may potentially be several more difficult climbs possible.
Getting There
The Chasm Boulder is found upstream from The Yosemite Boulder, and the Colossal Cluster. This boulder is one of the last large boulders remaining in the streambed until The Premier Boulder of Devil's Den is found.
The easiest approach to reach this bouldering area, is to head down the main trail towards Boulder Natural, but about 50 yards prior to coming to the Illmob Boulder, where the trail bears right, head straight down the hill on a faint climber trail. This approach will bring one straight to the Colossal Cluster. From this cluster follow it around its left side on the faint trail and up the stream to this block.
