Echo to Henefer Ice Climbing

The Echo Canyon climbing areas are located within the Henefer-Echo Wildlife Management Area. The Utah Division of Wildlife Resources closes all access to the WMA each year from January 1 to the second Saturday in April to protect wintering wildlife. There is some debate/discussion about access to routes such as the UDOT shed and Echo 3-Step as being before exclusion zone/posted area as well as so close to road & train tracks (where wildlife is frequently killed) as well as impromptu shooting area, that the limited amount of ice and climbers are disregarded or some areas here are permissible. Enter at own risk. For other areas seek permission from local landowners (often receptive). Early AM/pre-dawn starts...be quick, quiet & discrete. The Screamers area and Tombstone Falls are frequently climbed and appear to be in an acceptable area for climbing.
