Description
Vent 5 includes a series of 40-90 ft crags along the beach below Endless Bummer. It includes the highest concentration of easy (5.8-5.10) sport routes in Marin and -- best of all -- very few of them are tide-dependent. Most of this area was rediscovered and developed throughout 2019-2021 by Ed Henicle, Noah Dailey, Kim Pfabe, Jim Thornburg and others.
Like many of the recently developed coastal crags, a lot of cleaning of loose rock was necessary prior to climbing, and some loose rock remains, so keep an eye out and be vigilant.
Getting There
Park as for Endless Bummer and the Emperor (37.880651662, -122.618622777). Please park perpendicular to the road to save room for other vehicles! If the main pullout s full and the pullouts to the north and south are also full, please consider climbing at a different crag rather than trying to squeeze in on the shoulder (your car will be ticketed if you’re not in a legit spot). Also, please follow the trail carefully and don’t cut the switchbacks! Hike in along the ridge over and around boulders until you arrive at the last large boulder and look for a trail on the right that drops down off the ridge. Follow this trail past MoTown (vertical face with ~8 routes) and continue until you can see Endless Bummer(no longer exists now is one large boulder on left side and lots of scree) on the left and the Emperor Boulder downhill on your right. From this point, head to the left on a trail contouring the hillside, passing 100 ft downhill of Endless Bummer. After passing below EB, within 200 ft, you'll scramble down several boulders and pass the first cliff (The Juice Shop) on your left.
Photos of the approach trail can be found under Endless Bummer and the Emperor crags.
