Warning Access Issue: Seasonal Raptor Closures DetailsDrop down

Description

Sunny, scenic and almost never another soul up there. Rock Quality is top notch, and landings are almost all great. Classics include Airfield Arete (V7), Punxsutawney Phil (V6), and The Shadow (V10). There is also a smattering of other fun problems in the V1-V4 range.

Getting There

Park as for Mad Meadows / Playground Point. Walk up past The Hole and the SpongeBob Squarepad Boulder, then up and around Playground Point. A trail continues up a short distance further to beautiful boulders. 20-25 minute approach.

[Hide Comment] Trail gets really overgrown near the end. Towards the end of the straightaway a bit after hiking up and around Playground Point, do not get tempted to go up the steep slope marked by cairns. Instead, continue straight down into the heavily vegetated valley nearby and to the right of a standalone boulder in the edge of the meadow and surrounded by dead trees. You'll see the trail reappear, albeit you'll greatly appreciate long pants for this section, as there are lots of thorny plants leaning out over it. Once you are out of this valley, you'll be at the first set of boulders. May 31, 2024
