Scodie Spire

California > Southern-Wester… > Southern Sierra - The…

Description

Nice little spire on the way to Onyx and Kernville with a handful of trad lines on it. "Domelands" says more could be added.

Getting There

Take highway 178 West from Ridgecrest, towards Onyx, Lake Isabella and Kernville. Once you come out of the last 40mph left hand curve, you'll see a fenced in field on the South side of the highway that opens to a ridgeline beyond. Take a little dirt road on the South side of the highway, but stay off private property, then hike up about 2400ft ("Domelands" says 1500ft of elevation gain, but my track says 2400ft) to the base of the obvious spire on the ridge.
