Getting There Suggest change

Drive to North fork, Idaho on highway 93. Turn off highway towards shoup and drive down the River canyon to the first bridge that crosses the River. It’s about 20miles....the rapid you see is pine creek, reportedly where the Lewis and Clark corps of discovery expedition turned around on their quest, realizing that the salmon River was too rowdy to go down! Cross the bridge and drive downstream a quarter mile. You should see a large alcove of light grey granite with some white quartz tiger stripes bordered by a large chossy left facing corner upstream and a small water runnel downstream. I have been using a small raft to cross the River and parking it in a small eddy with rocks and a micro beach on the other side.
