Description

The Black Boulder has a super unique rock type. In the area, there are some mafic intrusions into the granite, but most are xenoliths or a small vein, but this must have been a LARGE vein, big enough for a chuck to fall out and travel down the valley and be left in the forest with the other granite blocks.

Getting There

This is the first boulder you hit from the trailhead at 1.66 miles. You can't miss it, as it's right next to the trail.
